Band Night Parade

Hello everyone! Join Urban Harvest at the May 11th Band Night Parade and help us make arts and entertainment visible in our community! We’re looking for walkers, bikers, rollerbladers, hula hoopers, etc. We will meet at the Capital grounds at 5:30 as the parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Urban Harvest is #44 in the parade, so look for us on the west side of the capital lawn.

We encourage costumes and face paint! Candy, flyers and some face paint will be provided. Feel free to make your own Urban Harvest signs, if you like. Several will be available along with Urban Harvest bags to carry the candy. We will not have a truck this year, so bring your strollers, wagons, or bicycles for your kids and to carry the candy. See you at the parade!

NDCA Grant Awarded

The North Dakota Council on the Arts has awarded Urban Harvest a Presenter Support Grant in the amount of $2000 for the 2012 market season! Thank you, NDCA for allowing us to continue our support of local musicians and performers for another year. We are looking forward to an even better year in terms of entertainment and charitable giving, and we appreciate your support!

This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Urban Harvest offers scholarship to first time arts and crafts vendors

Artists and crafters interested in testing the waters of vending to the public can get their feet wet this summer at Urban Harvest.

Thanks to support from Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Urban Harvest is offering a scholarship program for new vendors this year. In the booth provided by Basin Electric Power Cooperative, a different vendor each week will have the chance to sell home-crafted products without paying Urban Harvest membership fees. We especially encourage teenage artists and other amateur crafters who have never sold their products before to apply for these positions.

Interested applicants should fill out the regular vendor applications, and submit an application with a cover letter and three photographs of their products in lieu of a membership fee. Scholarship recipients also do not need to provide their own insurance; Urban Harvest will insure the scholarship booth. We will also have a canopy set up and offer assistance to vendors in setting up and displaying their products. Applicants should indicate which days they are available to vend.

The regular fee for vending at Urban Harvest is $100 for all six markets or $30 for a single market. The deadline for both regular vendor applications and scholarship applications is July 1. Paid applicants must provide their own insurance coverage.

Urban Harvest is an open-air market that occurs six consecutive Thursdays from July 14 through August 18. A celebration of all things local, arts and crafts booths dot the 1tree-lined streets on the corner of 4th Street and Broadway in downtown Bismarck each market day. Shoppers will also find farmers market produce and local food vendors selling from their booths. Live musical acts and entertainment performs on the main stage throughout the day.
