Urban Idol Official Rules

1.             This season, Urban Idol will have two age categories: an 12-17 category, and a 11-and-under category (Urban Idol Junior). Participants will only compete against the other contestants in their age category, and votes will be cast separately for the two categories.

2.             Contest will be held at each Urban Harvest market, starting Thursday, July 8 through Thursday, August 6. All weekly winners will return on Thursday, August 12, for the contest final.

3.             Registration for each day’s competition will be held at the Urban Harvest booth at the Urban Harvest market each Thursday on a strictly first-come, first-serve basis. Registration will be available starting at 10 am the day of the contest, and will continue until all spots are filled. Competition begins at 3 pm.

4.             Open to all forms of entertainment, as long as the presentation is in good taste and suitable for the general public. Urban Harvest reserves the right to deny entry or stop the performance of any individual or group that is found to be inappropriate.

5.             Contest entries must be limited to performances of 5 minutes or less.

6.             Winners will be chosen based on audience vote, so bring your own cheering section! Ballots will be passed out during the course of the performances. Two separate ballots will be handed out – one for each age category. To be fair, only one vote per audience member, please!

7.             All ballots submitted will be counted when the performances are finished, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter. Weekly winners will not be allowed to participate in subsequent weekly contests until the contest final on August 12.

8.             Weekly winners and runners up in each age category will receive a prize. All weekly winners and runners up are eligible to compete for the grand prize on August 12.
